The organisation

A family group with retail brands in the UAE. The board is adding an independent seat. They want an Emirati director who has sat on or next to a board, who understands retail or consumer, and who is not there as decoration.

The work

• Sit as an independent director, with the time to read the pack and attend.
• Contribute on strategy, succession, risk and the quality of information the board gets.
• Chair or sit on a committee if the board asks, typically audit or nomination.
• Hold the executive to account without turning every meeting into a fight.
• Represent the board with regulators, banks or partners when that is useful.

Who we are looking for

• RUKN expert: a senior Emirati leader, former executive or existing director.
• Retail, consumer, family business or a regulated board in the UAE.
• Independent in fact, not only in title.
• Available for a proper board calendar, not a single annual meeting.
